It’s not often that I hear a quotable line in some TV show.  But I heard one last week that you may have missed.  It is really for guys only, I think.  It is best used only guy to guy.

Here was the situation on the TV show.  It was a legal show and the client was charged with murder.  His girlfriend was his alibi, but she was also upset about what he was caught doing and so, was naturally a bit upset at him for getting her and them into this ‘situation.’

There was some coaching going on at the defense table.  The guy client was distressed about her feelings, how she would act, how it would affect the jury, would she be supportive of him, etc.  He was getting a bit, how shall I report it, whine-y.  My word, not theirs.

I was truly thinking…’whine-y’—when the defense, no-nonsense attorney character uttered the quotable line:

 ”Man up!”

Is there a man alive that does not know what this means?  I thought it was clever and I can’t wait to use it myself somewhere.
