Especially if the consultant is more than 50 miles away, thereby qualifying them as an expert. Actually, we are guilty of the shiny penny even at home. I think consultants get that "shiny penny" treatment, too... an employee can be recommending a course of action for months and get shot down every time; but if a highly paid consultant makes the exact same recommendation, it's implemented immediately and hailed as a breakthrough. :-( Excellent point!
