No question many do coast after having initial success...it happens in almost every endeavor. As they grow old and their teeth start falling out, they rely on their roar to keep the young lions at bay. In other words, his reputation as King of Beasts protects him - at least for a while. Sooner or later though, an upstart will challenge him, and then the truth comes out - he was really all bluster and no substance. (It's where we get the expression, "paper lion".)
