To create a sales contest, first start with the concept. Make it fun, involve everyone, give money away at the time (not later) and tie it to some metric that makes sense for the business. We are doing one now here at JobDig that involves everyone racing remote cars around a racetrack made by stringing a garden hose around.
The rules are so complicated but our Generation Y workforce evidently understands it all. The kibbutzing that goes on during the race among the participants is priceless.
Not so much in Japan. Here is one of their contests. I am going to suggest something similar for our next one. It should be hilarious.
