I just had one of the more humorous exchanges I’ve experienced in awhile. My business phone line is a Vonage line (great flexibility, burdens rapidly catching up to advantages) and suddenly no one could call me. Then, everyone who had tried to call me got stuck in some queue and their numbers kept ringing me every 10 seconds or so.
I could still call out, so I called Vonage’s help number. Literally a half hour later, a guy answers:
HELP: Thank you for calling Wonage. This is Brian. How can I help you?
The guy is obviously answering from India and has a very heavy accent. Brian?
ME: Uh, hello…Brian. I am unable to receive calls.
I read just the other day that the Indian call centers are now issuing English names to the workers. First, though, they will have to teach them how to say Vonage…
