Last night, the [tag]Country Music Awards[/tag] (CMA’s) were on TV. I watched some of it, being a bit too cool to watch it all.

If you don’t like country music, fine. This show is like the [tag]Oscars[/tag], ‘cept it’s in [tag]Nashville[/tag], and the award presenters wear jeans, talk slow and low, and don’t make political statements. It is an uncynical awards show.

Country music’s most famous names were there: [tag]Reba McIntyre[/tag],52,and [tag]George Strait[/tag],52. [tag]Kenny Chesney[/tag],39, who was briefly married to [tag]Rene Zellweger[/tag], won yet another award, and [tag]Brad Paisley[/tag],35, and [tag]Keith Urban[/tag],40, were showing off their own Hollywood wives, [tag]Kimberly Williams[/tag] and [tag]Nicole Kidman[/tag]. [tag]Jamie Foxx[/tag] was there and sang with [tag]Rascal Flatts[/tag]. [tag]Michael Jackson[/tag] was there, too, and was dressed in chinchilla chaps and red cowboy boots and matching hat. (J/K)

[tag]Brooks,52, and Dunn,54,[/tag] sang, as did [tag]Carrie Underwood[/tag],24, [tag]Martina McBride[/tag],41,and [tag]LeeAnn Rimes[/tag],25. The [tag]Eagles[/tag] sang, average age 82. I thought they were dead.

Anyway, [tag]Taylor Swift[/tag] won the [tag]Horizon Award[/tag] and had arguably the best acceptance speech of the night, certainly the best line.

Acceptance speeches are awful. The award winner typically thanks the producer, Jesus, songwriter, his or her family, God,  their ol’ buddy “Red,” the friend who fetches bags and lattes, and their fans.

But Taylor Swift, 17, delivered the money quote….and got the ‘ cute as a  puppy’ award, hands down.

[tag]“This is definitely the highlight of my senior year,”[/tag]she gushed.

Her parents were just giddy.
