One of the interesting things about blogging is that you can tell how readers find your blog. If someone finds my blog via a search on Google, our blogging software can even tell me what search term was used.
Here are a few of the more interesting[tag] Google searches[/tag] that led people to this blog.
Over a year ago, I wrote a post on how one can make money (?) [tag]delivering phone books[/tag]. Over a year later, at least ten people per day search on “delivering phone books” and find my post on Page One.
And then this last summer, at my high school reunion, I made a [tag]wife swapping[/tag] joke with an old teacher. Even today, if someone searches for [tag]“wife swapping stories”[/tag]—they get my blog. What a disappointment that must be. Page one, again.
Then, a year ago July, I quoted a vice-chairman of one of [tag]Asia’s biggest banks[/tag]. Every day someone searches on [tag]Jackson Tai[/tag], maybe for an article backgrounder, and there is MY blog post in the top five results, page one. Go figure. My blog is now part of his resume…after 50 years in banking. I am surprised his PR department is not writing something to get ahead of my post.
These were fun and interesting. The one that helps our business, is the post on[tag] interesting jobs[/tag]. If a person googles ‘interesting jobs”—and who does not want an interesting job???—my post is number frickin 3 (THREE) out of 51 million, 800 thousand entries (51,800,000). Page one.
Kewl.
