The first of a sporadic series of visits to JobDig’s markets with introductions to some local bloggers.

Pre-cinema, vaudeville was the entertainment venue of choice. It is where entertainers like [tag]George Burns[/tag], [tag]W.C. Fields[/tag] and [tag]Bob Hope[/tag] got their start—think dinner theater without bad chicken catchatorie. The vaudeville mecca was New York City’s [tag]Palace Theater[/tag]; from there, shows would travel all across the U.S, but only after successfully answering the question: [tag]“Will it play in Peoria?”[/tag] The question obviously highlights Peoria’s mainstream midwestern culture and demographics.

[tag]Peoria[/tag] is a relatively new JobDig market. We are very proud to be there, serving employers and active and passive job seekers.

I have a list of bloggers I enjoy skimming (thank God for [tag]Evelyn Wood[/tag]), and Peoria has a group of bloggers you should meet, greet and read from time to time. Few bloggers write only about JOBS or career matters, but I have noticed how often workplace issues seem to be part of almost all the content. I enjoy reading [tag]Bill Dennis[/tag] at PeoriaPundit, and then I immediately go over to [tag]Randall Emert[/tag] at PeoriaAntiPundit. I couldn’t pick up the backstory here, but that alone tells me it is all in good humor, no doubt. [tag]Jen Christensen[/tag] is an anchor on [tag]WHOI-TV[/tag], a local celebrity when you see her with her kids at [tag]Naturally Yours Grocery[/tag]. Jen blogs about managing her career and family at [tag]NewsAnchorMom[/tag]. Katie’s [tag]Notes From the TrailerHood[/tag] got me from the title–clever, Katie. [tag]B.J. Stone[/tag]‘s Good Year for the Outlaw is full of Peoria news, thoughts and insights as is [tag]Lollygaggin[/tag], Pammie Hazzard’s well written offering. [tag]Scott’s Blog Experience[/tag] is a fun read, his blog is well done, and I just wish he would blog every day. Mike at Just a Thought actually has quite a few thoughts. [tag]PeoriaPeepers [/tag]is anonymous unless his/her name is really “Jeep 2000,” and so is Mr. Blargen at blargen, a made up word that actually sounds like it should be one.

These are but a few of the local Peoria blogs I will keep checking. Are they the best in Peoria? Among the best, how’s that? We hope to start giving some space in [tag]JOBDIG[/tag] to local bloggers—keep checking to find out who.
