FastCompany is hip, techy, and kewl. So, I am pleased that they run my Gruzzles from time to time. Gives me props to hang with such homeboys. You know what I mean.
The editorial direction is simple for me, I think they have my number. Simple.
“We like it when you do them on something topical,” they told me.
“Like?…” I ask.
“We don’t care, but try to make them edgy,” they respond. I am all over “edgy,”–it’s in my baby boomer anti-establishment personality.
So, even though I am center-right on most issues, I made this Gruzzle on poor Joe Wilson, the cretin congressman from South Carolina.
They ended up not using it.
“Can’t bash all of SC because of one bad rep,” they said.
That was the too-edgy part?

Thanks to my bud Paul Epps who found the image of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks cheerleader that still makes me laugh.

These Gruzzles are out of control!! LMAO
I am sure that the part you thought was edgy was the Farting comment…
He did get the issue of coverage into the discussion. I’m not so sure that an “apology” was warranted. All politicians lie. They twist, distort, evade, and parse. If a child did half of it, they’d be in time out. (In my day, my Mom would extract some hair from my head to attract my attention to my failure to meet her standards.) So, I’d like to send the whole lot to time out a long time out by Getting Rid of Incumbent Politicians (i.e., voter enforced term limits)! My only question is if this is such a “crisis” why doesn’t it start until 2013. That and why the congress critters get a free pass. It’d be funny if this weren’t serious.
Again, you hit the nail on the head. He IS a cretin. No excuse for rudeness. If that happened with the last administration, Joe Wilson would have quietly disappeared and we would never have heard from him again.
The picture is priceless.

As usual, GL is spot on. Having blurted out an embarrassing comment in 5th grade reading class, I can only imagine how embarrassing a fart would’ve been.
Maybe I misunderstand. Are you saying Joe Wilson felt embarrassed by what he did? Cause if so, I don’t agree.
Now, I don’t know Joe, so I can only assume. And nt assumption is that anyone over 11 years old who would yell a statement like that to a President in a Presidential press conference is NOT embarrassed by much. I’d guess he’s peeing his pants in delight over becoming a household word over night (or at least as long as anything stays on our radar -about 10 seconds).
Didn’t realize you were center right – or is it right of center — but I like you anyway. It must be that anti establishment thing.
