"I am having fun here, sharing stories of what I have learned after some 25 years of doing startups, with maybe some observations about the workplace, culture and other things that interest or amuse me,...and hopefully, you."

I’m the one that shows up to our children’s events with the Santa Hat on, or the special name badge with all the crazy buttons, wild colored striped knee-highs, treating the children with respect and being animated. I don’t touch them or pick them up, but I engage them and make them smile. I give anything for them to the parent first, so the parent can be the person that gives them something pleasant and positive. Believe me, they know me around town- as the car seat lady or the helmet lady. I am Union so I have to REALLY mess up to get canned. I had a smallpox shot during the anthrax scare when even doctors were afraid to get one. I refuse to allow management to take me off the disaster response team. No “mandatory disaster responder” status for me. I am a LEAD. I’ll be the one busting windows for medical supplies when the big one hits and no one has the key. And yes, I can read a map and I ALWAYS wear lipstick!
