I saw an ad from moveon.org bashing Target for some reason. Move on, moveon.
Personally, I like Target and not just because it is headquartered here in Minneapolis. Have you ever gone into a Target store and not felt personally uplifted a bit? Think about that the next time you visit your favorite one. From a purely consumer standpoint, everything about Target says “quality,” even if corn on the cob is only 15 cents.
I bet their employees feel the same way…and we all know it starts from there. If you were in downtown Minneapolis today at about 8 am, you would see about 15,000 Target headquarters’ people on their way to work. How would you tell? Today they are ALL wearing khaki pants and red shirts.
Not one of them looked to be pissed off for wearing the company’s colors. If they have drunk the kool-aid, it is cherry flavored and ever so sweet.

You really don’t know what the ad is about? It’s been all over the news: http://consumerist.com/2010/07/target-angering-gay-customers-with-support-of-conservative-politician.html
Regardless of your stance on gay rights, when a company is a vocal proponent for years and then supports a very strong anti-gay candidate, it’s contradictory at best.
Yeah I know. Personally, I think any corporation should neverever support ANY politician. Given enough time and money, we all could find something negative about each one of them, and why piss off anyone potential customer?
Although personally, I did like Target’s non-caving in to the extortion demands of the other side, even after the official apology, to give the same amount of money to the Gay and Lesbian group, you know, to make it fair. If you don’t, they seemed to say, we will BOYCOTT you and run nasty ads.
But the key is, here is company with a sterling rep and brand, who is getting somewhat bashed and raked over the coals—who caused it to happen by trying to support one side.
Companies and management should be apolitical is my point.
I will agree with you on walking into Target and feeling uplifted immediately. I wonder why that is??
