Isn’t America great?
Today is Cyber Monday. I bet they don’t have Cyber Monday in Peru or France.
CM comes after Black Friday which is the day we all drag our asses to the mall to do Christmas shopping. Since cyber sellers know their market, their day is not the day after Thanksgiving, but the first day of the following workweek when we are just surfing around, killing time and acting busy. Want a deal? Go here–>CyberMonday.com. America needs you to do your part.
Commercial break: Oh good, it’s my favorite GEICO commercial: “Hey, you dang woodchuck, quit chucking my wood.” That one kills.
Don’t expect to get any really super, crazy deals on cyber Monday. Some stores are offering up to 75% off. Still there are some issues out there.
Here’s why.
No matter what the “deal” is, I will bet you a $100 internet theoretical dollars I can find it cheaper somewhere else, on some other website. This is the way the google works, when you search, the results are presented in featured advertiser order. Meaning: cyber merchants pay Google real dollars to get to the top of your searching list. We are just so busy acting busy that we don’t get past page three. Busy means impatient in 2010. We got things to do. Sign up for an email so you can get an extra 40%, nope…I hate hitting DELETE.
Come to think of it, this is going to be a big issue for shoppers in the future, methinks. You and I should pay the same price for the same thing, right? It’s like if I come home after buying my brand new fully-loaded KIA, and find that my neighbor paid $65 less than me, same car, same dealer. I now like my KIA a little less, and I really dislike the dealer. I really don’t mind the price, I just want to make sure that everyone is paying my price.
If your business model depends upon ignorant buyers, you are going to get punished by them in the future.
Here is one thing I know for sure, someone somewhere is buying that very same product for less, you be that person.
Good luck to you.
Ed Note: If you found any great deals, will you please leave them in the comments? Doesn’t matter what it is, I will buy Christian Louboutin high heel pumps for my son if they are like 95% off. One never knows.
