Is the title of a book I just read by Mark Bauerlein. I almost don’t know where to begin. First, I am so tired of writer-researchers ripping on Generation Y’ers. It is starting to bore me. Every generation laments the failings of the younger ones.

His book is filled with ‘research’ that seemingly proves his main point. Dumbest? I think not. But there are some passages that I found myself agreeing with, such as:

If the guardians of tradition claim that the young, though ignorant, have a special perspective on the past, or if teachers prize the impulses of tenth-graders more than the thoughts of the wise and the works of the masters, learning loses its point.

We have a workforce here at JobDig where 75% of us are under the age of 30. I think everyone here over 50 would disagree vehemently with the premise of the book.

What is a good topic, however, is how one does manage to work with such a workforce, particularly if you are a baby boomer. I give some random tips over at US NEWS and WORLD REPORT today. Please note: I am limited to the number of words I can use over there so it is a too-short list. I am hoping you leave me some new ideas or reactions.
